The F.U.Q?

We’re sure you want to know more and luckily we’ve got answers to your Frequently Unasked Questions. Here’s all you need to know about what we’re doing and what’s going on. As a necessary note: Rage Quit Ink is the home for Dre (the original creator)’s work, so all answers will be written up by her.

General Shit

Who Does This?

Rage Quit Ink is run by two dorks. Dork One is Dre (She/Her) She’s the weirdo that thought this was a good idea and works as the Creative and Developmental Director for all projects. The other dork and weirdo is E. (He/They) who works as the Business Coordinator and Creative Assistant on all projects. With their powers combined, they are Dorkus Maximus.

Wait… Are you [insert legal name here]?

Yup! But I can’t go by that name professionally and publicly for the same reason why you’ll have a hard time finding us on social media.

How do you two know each other?

We were friends, had a shit fall out on both our parts, lost touch and somehow similar to when we first met, reconnected at a moment when it seemed like no one valued either of us in any capacity. Turns out that even after all this time and regardless of how much we’ve changed, we’re still great at being a high level of obnoxious in our commitment to having a party – whatever that party may be. It just turns out that the party now is Rage Quit Ink.

Why for 18 years and older?

Because it honestly feels like adult oriented media that actually offers us more than grimdark storytelling, gutter ridden jokes or isn’t just low-key infantalizing us has been lacking for a very long time and I’m done being hungry.

Why are you angry?

Well, this is by no means an exhaustive list but:

  • My father got sick and died when I was really young. He was the only parent and family member I had who cared about my safety and future with the exception of my grandmother who could only do so much due to her old age before passing away;
  • After he passed away, I was left to be raised by my other living parent who encouraged an abusive and violent environment because she treated me like competition for attention;
  • This caused me to endure a horrific level of unchecked physical violence and constant sexual harassment that I guess people signed up for in exchange for getting praise and validation from her? She was kind enough to rely on Psychological Abuse to make things easier for me;
  • Struggled with accessing help and assistance to deal with my childhood home environment due to my living relatives’ obsession with projecting Good Christian Folks who are invested in their communities;
  • Due to that upbringing, I developed unhealthy attachment patterns that lead me to constantly tolerating various forms of physical abuse and sexual harassment at the hands of people I falsely considered friends because I struggled with recognizing the abuse I was experiencing for what it was, leading me to also struggle to recognize when there were actual healthy and supportive connections in my life due to conditioning from my upbringing;
  • Started developing anger issues as a result where I struggled to find healthy outlets to figure out how to cope and deal with the violent environments and connections I found myself continually in, resulting in me perpetually villainizing myself in a way that forced me to treat myself at fault – especially if I found myself angry and upset over what I was experiencing;
  • Eventually at some point found a career I was actually passionate about only to be bullied out of it by someone who is now an online stalker and sexual harasser who is making it their unpaid job to poison any professional spaces I was established in to maintain control over my life because they can’t fucking take No for an answer (get an actual job you fucking psycho. How did you even find me when I stopped showing up under my legal name?????);
  • This resulted in being trapped in an abusive relationship where I was raped and had absolutely no avenue for escape due to all financial avenues I had developed being cut off and being unable to commit effectively to a more traditional office environment due to the abuse I was enduring;
  • Found out the hard way that anyone I considered an actual friend at the time when I was finally able to make an escape was more than happy to blame me for everything;
  • Had to get on food stamps and faced excessive poverty and homelessness due to the lack of support in my immediate environment;
  • Had to deal with being labeled as being difficult to work with because I dared to do things like advocate for better working conditions and pay at the jobs I’ve been in;
  • Have actually tried to go to the police about this the sexual harassment and abuse and they literally treated me as hysterical in the most predictable and stereotypical outcome possible lmfao;
  • And IDK have you looked at the news lately? Things are pretty shit right now honestly and as an Elder Millennial it’s getting pretty fucking old seeing how the world seems like a never ending pit of despair that we’re expected to continually smile and bear through because “we have it easy”.

At times my life has felt like someone else was writing the story with the intent of creating A Strong Female Character™ only for them to become resentful towards my indignation about my treatment. Kinda feels like they could use an editor to stop relying so heavily on outdated tropes and to realize that character growth that allows someone to overcome the obstacles in their way isn’t a bad thing.

The plus side is that I managed to at least figure all this shit out before turning 40 so there’s that, I guess.

Why do this then?

For a number of reasons. For one – my father praised the arts as an outlet to deal with life’s trials and tribulations so guess who’s officially embracing that? ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

The other is all these stories and projects are an accumulation of the brutal lessons that I’ve learned and as a big believer in making sure that those who come after me don’t endure what I went through, this is my way of passing my wisdom forward in a way that’s a bit more low-stakes than expecting someone to experience the exact same thing as me to understand everything.

What kind of lessons do your stories focus on?

Each story/project has it’s own lesson but they draw from what I’ve learned as I’ve had to come to terms with the many ways that I’ve failed myself and the ways that I’ve had to grow from the most egregious mistake I’m guilty of.

Biz Shit

Who is your work for?

The only way to describe what we do is Hopepunk. But if you want a check list to turn to, you’ll probably like what we do if you (check any that apply):

  • Love(d) Old School Guster/Linkin Park/Incubus;
  • Believe that media peaked for some weird reason around the early/mid-2000s and has been on a weird and unsettling decline ever since;
  • Are interested/fascinated by Astrology and Tarot but genuinely hate how vapid, shallow and reductionist Pop Sign Astrology is (i.e. the bs that tries to convince you that you’ are X because you’re a Y Sun Sign);
  • Realized at some point in time that being a punk/angry/rebellious/etc. was not just a phase because it turns out that people really are just stupid enough to constantly choose the most pathetically short sighted decisions that ultimately ruin the probability of a brighter future in a desperate attempt to satiate their worthless egos;
  • Have Commander Shepard’s words echoing in your mind regularly;
  • Enjoy stories that contain at minimum romance, heavy action, mild horror and strong language, as well as stories that contain graphic violence, psychological horror and/or erotica;
  • Honestly just want to live your life and are deeply disinterested in propping yourself as someone worth envying on social media for fake numbers after winning a made up war with the algorithm.

And – probably most importantly – enjoy stories that have a guaranteed happy ending.

When will things be released?

IDK! When they’re done! We have at least 17 major projects – 15 OGNs, 1 TTRPG and 1 Tarot Deck – and that count doesn’t include the other random shit I want to do, so buckle the fuck up because this is going to be a ✨journey✨.

By “Underground”, do you mean “indie”?

Once upon a time, I used to believe that Indie Communities were about finding a space where you belong despite industries saying you don’t and finding new paths to forge that aim to combat pervasive problems developed by a patriarchal and capitalist system. Now, 10 years later and with a great deal of time to reflect on what I’ve seen and experienced, it’s becoming clear that it’s a space whose integrity is at risk due to the lack of oversight and how easy it is for predatory individuals and businesses to take root.

Besides, why would we want to be associated a space where it’s clear that it doesn’t prioritize uplifting it’s members but instead, only seems to be hyper-powered by those who only seek to feed their own vanity. Within the last handful years alone (This is being written in 2026 so hopefully this will change down the line), the Indie Community has allowed individuals to:

  • Raise millions of dollars with barely anything to show for it, leading them to follow the same trends from the 2008 financial crisis where they’ve been bailed out by a studio as if we’ve learned nothing. Now the business is back running crowdfunds – with 5 slated for this year alone – and still we have no idea what happened to the millions of dollars previously raised as they’re now covered and protected from consequences from their shady business practices;
  • Run a crowdfund to raise money for an animation pilot that offers no transparency around how those funds will help the 50 or so creators whose time, skills and energy have been used to make the project possible. It’s even worse as it’s clear that stretch goals aren’t even set up to prioritize finding a way to make indie production more accessible. In fact, the only person who seems to have the possibility of getting a livable wage out of it is the Studio Head and many of the stretch goals are pointed towards helping them have an extended sabbatical where they’ll likely leave the hard work to the 50 and likely more creators they’ll hire to make their dreams a reality. Also? Feels weird to see a campaign be essentially used as a therapy session to air out grievances against their parents instead of focusing on actually finding constructive and effective ways to make sure their artists get paid;
  • Start a co-op Non-Profit Labor Rights Organization that seems to only be driven to find ways to pilfer from the ideas and labor of decade(s) old advocates and community builders. Despite being active for 3 years, the organization has also failed to provide actionable steps and plans on how they plan to actually help improve the livelihood of the creators that are dependent on them to show them the way – likely because they’re waiting for another idea to be let go of to use to solve a problem that other people have actively been working on. To make it worse, the only thing they seem to be prioritizing at this time is providing pay for their members in the form of Exposure instead of helping them find ways to get paid in actual stone cold hard cash that makes sure that their members can pay bills, have a roof over their head and don’t starve to death or die from likely preventable diseases;
  • Use things like censorship as a not-so-subtle guise to hide their deeper motives of convincing people that things like lolisho and other deeply disturbing and horrifyingly problematic (for lack of a better term) “artwork” should be deemed 100% acceptable without question under threat of being labeled an enemy of the arts and a fascist … and somehow it’s fucking working?! ;
  • Drag a now defunct indie publisher a year after they’ve openly and publicly gone under, only to then stoke the fears and anxieties of indie creators who are looking for a way to move forward in order to encourage them to get closer to the community in a way that reads similar to a death spiral instead of offering them real world solutions to real world problems that are plaguing their existence and realities;
  • Encourage using their platforms as a means of being outright defamatory and belligerent while demanding that people be understanding and empathetic towards their plights. To make things worse, their personal platforms are often used as a means of building resentment towards those who believe they’d be someone who are actually interested in solving the age old problem of “how do you make money from Indie?” because at the end of the day – whether or not they want to openly admit it – they’re genuinely comfortable with accepting the fact that their toxic habits are part of why indie is worth absolutely nothing other than collecting debt and begging for money;

As a whole, the space is functions off of pure anarchy where their primary export is noise pollution because they’ve convinced themselves that they’re actually winning in some bizarre game of 5D chess that absolutely no one is playing but them. Any attempts that individuals make to creating infrastructure are usually sabotaged by those with higher visibility – and in turn – higher influence to ensure that whatever comfort and security they’re getting from the lack of oversight is not interrupted by any means necessary. In 10 years since being active, nothing has changed and at this point, people need to accept that they don’t want it to.

… Oh. Also my stalker and sexual harasser loves Indie Spaces across all creative corners for these aforementioned reasons and since I’m allergic to being associated with anything that allows that level of sociopathy to thrive. So when we say Underground, we say it with a punk mindset and attitude as we have zero interest in engaging in spaces that mirror the kind of problematic, toxic and dangerous systems that are clearly calling the shots all across the world and we’re more than happy to stay on this side of the line.

collecting cash/awards/followers/likes/reblogs are just trophies to these people. and the more you engage,the more You’re just keeping the machine going.

Why do you even care?

Because I ended up in that space thinking it’d help me break the cycles of abuse I grew up in and it turned out to be the most saturated, purest form of the environment that plagues not only my existence but the existence of many people all over the fucking world. So if I can do something here that makes it clear that this isn’t acceptable, then so fucking be it but I’m sick of how willing everyone is to turn a god damn blind eye to this type of insane violent bullshit (including me when I was deep in it).

Except it’s even worse now because a lot of these people who have clearly not only sold their humanity but poisoned the capacity for it to be healed completely are making fucking bank off of this – making it easier for them to find more victims to prey on while ruining any possibility of breaking cycles that are pervasive within creative industries.

What makes you different?

For one – I’m not asking you to help me make my ~*dreams*~ a reality, nor am I trying to use this as a thinly veiled score board to boost my ego. What I am doing is handling this like a business which means you have a choice in how you choose to engage in what we’re doing: You can read through our Previews, Check out or Blog or grab something from our $ Bag. Then… you can just wait until we’ve rolled out the rest of our labels and you can continue to invest on what will likely be a wider and larger scale.

No Crowdfunding.

No Whining.

Just pure, old fashioned money making.

At the end of the day, we know that if we’re running a business it’s our job to make sure we’re doing something that’s worth the investment and that’s where our priority is always going to be. Will be succeed? Who knows! But that’s part of the reality of running a business – especially in this economy.

Will you be open to submissions/publishing the works of others?

I did this one for a very well established Writer/Artist duo within the Indie Comics/Publishing Community and it was the most blunt lesson in recognizing that people enjoy acting like a victim in order to prey on those who seek to do good within the community. While publishing their work, I was introduced to their deeper dynamic – The Writer sits back while they enable the Artist’s abusive behavior in order to keep themselves entertained as they treat people like nothing but chess pieces in their latest story while The Artist exists to abuse anyone who could be a potential threat to their scamming and is only motivated to create art as a means of distracting people from their latest victim(s) or as for their birthday to fuel their narcissistic belief that their art is a gift they can give to people to excuse their dehumanizing other’s humanity. Publishing them is also part of the reason why I’m still working my way through debt because they had zero interest in actually creating a lucrative business – only finding people who were foolish enough to take them seriously as their biggest point of pride is functioning solely as a honey trap as they scam people out of time, energy and money (this includes the Indie Publisher that went under last year that they were more than happy to try and dog pile on as if they’re doing literally anything other than making their play more obvious to everyone watching).

So the answer is no, I won’t be open submissions. However, if you’re serious about wanting to independently publish, I will be doing my best to offer transparency around Successes and Failures on Lunar Peaks to make it easier for those who want to pave their own road.

Will you be printing any of your books?

Our priority right now is just getting these projects done and hopefully making a lucrative business out of it. If by the time they’re completed and we are successful enough that we can afford to pay for book printing out of pocket, then sure that’s something we’ll consider to pursue. But we will not be crowdfunding anything as I’m pretty sure that path is cursed for me to pursue.

misc shit

Where can we find you on Social Media?

If you’re fast enough, you can catch us on BlueSky. We regularly de-activate our account because my creepy as fuck stalker somehow found Rage Quit Ink and has absolutely zero shame in sexually harassing me even on that account! We also regularly block people who are at all within their sphere of influence or in the sphere influence of those who are actively destroying and ruining the indie community because we really aren’t looking to get sucked into that level of mind fuckery toxicity that they relish and thrive in! Otherwise, you can find us regularly on here or on our Production Blog – Tinkering.

Also my relatives love to use social media to try and keep tabs on me so that’s another reason why we have zero interest in rooting ourselves in social media in any capacity 🙂

Will you still be finishing That kickstarter?

Lmfao no. I won’t be. For one I made it pretty fucking clear in 2024 that unless I was able to magically get my life together then no, it wasn’t going to happen as what funds I had left over were used after losing my job in 2020 to pay rent and cover groceries. The other reason why is that after dealing with the atrocities of my life for the last decade, I had to come to terms with the fact that That Project was nothing but a futile coping mechanism that I made in hopes that I could inspire the people in my life to stop abusing me. Turns out that the power of comics is extremely limited and no matter how much Love and Light you try and beam into the world, abusers are going to keep being abusive so that project is done completely.

I’m also literally still paying off debt from that campaign, and the books also had to be destroyed because I had to choose between being homeless in order to pay for storage in order to hold on to a literal ton of books that will likely never be sold or getting rid of them and having a roof over my head.

Guess which one I chose.

Crowdfunding is not the accessible route that people think it is – especially for physical merchandise. Unless your life is built to support that kind of influx of funds then you’re setting yourself up for failure. I’m fine with hanging my hat here after having 2 out of 3 Crowdfund Campaigns I’ve run being fulfilled successfully. I know that this is also one of those scarlet letter kind of things that makes people get uneasy (especially since I’ve been calling people out for scamming people) but this is also why I’m going though tried and true route of just… running a business and giving you the choice of whether or not you want to give me money. No guilting. No Manipulating. Just a hell of a lot of honesty, integrity and commitment to being an insufferable try hard that always needs to wake up every day trying their best to do the right thing.

Also it’s been like 8 years at this point. If you’re still holding out hope that it’s going to happen then you have bigger things to worry about then whether or not you’ll get those books in the mail.

What do you like to do for fun?

Go to concerts, watch The Symphony, wander around cities, go to museums/libraries (especially Science Museums), reading, and kickboxing when I’m able to.

Oh. And eat food. I love eating good food.

Are you open for freelance opportunities?

It depends! All Business Coordination – including freelance opportunities – are handled by E. In order to better suss out legitimate work opportunities, we’ll need you to include the following information so we can better understand if Dre would be a good fit:

Please be aware that Dre is currently NOT available for Freelance Opportunities at this time while she rebuilds her portfolio. However, she will only be pursuing Storyboarding Opportunities from this point forward and will not be open for any writing, illustration or visual developmental focused job opportunities. Thank you for your understanding and take care.

  • What is the project? As much information regarding what the details of what you’re expecting Dre to be contributing to would be extremely helpful as we can’t guarantee that every job opportunity will receive a response asking for further clarity.
  • Scope of Work Expected to be Completed. This is something that will be compared to the Timeline and Budget. If we don’t know how much work you need her to do, we can’t provide you with a decision on whether or not that’s a feasible job for her to take on.
  • Timeline. This is necessary to see if this can be fit into her schedule.
  • Budget. We offer flexibility, however we can’t properly provide a quote if we don’t know what you’re realistically working with.

After all of that information has been compiled, you can reach out to us via email and we’ll respond if and as we are able to.

You’ve mentioned storyboarding. Will you be branching into producing animation?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I need help with something.
