Hello. It’s E. I’m here to give you a new update that’s a mixed bag of messaging. But first, the good news to share. We have 6 new updates on our Tinkering blog:

The last thing to provide an update on which isn’t really that positive is that after a lot of discussions, we’ve decided to move officially from social media. We’re not deleting the accounts, especially because we’ve already updated a lot of previews to Tumblr and aren’t able to delete them with the notes and reblogs, but we are officially not posting on social media for a number of reasons.

The first is that we just don’t have anything done. We’re both having a really good time but honestly it’s discouraging trying to get anyone hyped about something when we don’t even know how to access people. Between everything we’re juggling, we have to pick one of two things: Either focus on what we’re doing or try and find a way to build a following. We can’t do both. And since we’ve decided that we’re focused on creating, we have to sacrifice building a following until there’s an easier way to do so in the future.

The other is that Dre has been getting sexual harassment messages pretty regularly across Tumblr and Bluesky. We’re 99.9% certain we know who they’re coming from because of the styles of messaging that she’s been receiving and how they coincide with a lot of that individuals thinking and branding. It’s been frustrating to deal with because they’re doing so anonymously and unless we once again decide to commit to tracking this person down, it’s pretty much futile to try and hold them accountable.

Sacrificing our social media presence is also something we feel like we need to do to keep ourselves safe because they’re also someone who is well connected and influential within the industries and spaces that Dre would be working in. We’ve already begun to see signs that the individual has been spreading lies and tainting Dre’s ability to not only network but also even support creators that she genuinely respects and admires because they are genuinely obsessed with finding a way to not only control Dre’s presence but their career and platform as well.

This has been incredibly frustrating since Dre has been actively making steps to move away from an abusive relationship that she was trapped in and unable to leave in large part to this individual who spent a great deal of time ruining opportunities for Dre years ago. With all of the strides she’s been making to move on and rebuild her life, it honestly is undeniably disgusting that this individual doesn’t understand the word No and that they’re completely incapable of recognizing that Dre wants absolutely nothing to do with them in any way shape or form.

If you find yourself blocked, it’s 100% because you are someone we’ve found to be in close association with this person or at least in passive compliance of their platform and influence in some capacity. We already made it clear in our about page and details on our website as to why we’ve chosen to keep ourselves anonymous (which is also part of why this is so fucking frustrating because it means this person is actively going out of their fucking way to track Dre down and harass her continually) and unfortunately with how easy it is to spread lies and manipulate the narrative around someone who doesn’t have a platform in anyway shape or form, we just can’t take part in it seriously.

This isn’t going to stop us from doing what we’re doing and not only should it not do that, but it’s also horrific to think that this may be that individuals intention to begin with. Being a woman in this world is hard enough. It’s part of why Dre has chosen a more gender neutral name to go by in hopes of trying to find some sense of safety to keep creating independently, but unfortunately stalkers are going to stalk no matter what you do so our only option is to either wait out until they lose interest and move on or there’s another means of sharing our work that completely denies their ability to influence what we’re doing in any capacity.

I’ll be honest: This is a fucking shit update to be making. We’ve been trying to get into a bit of a groove this past week and it’s been a huge blast where we’ve been surprising ourselves individually and have been wonderfully surprised by how well we work together. We don’t want that being ruined because some scumbag can’t take a fucking No for an answer and expects Dre to do something to make them feel better about the fact that she wants absolutely fucking nothing to do with them for a number of reasons.

We might set up an RSS feed or something but at this time, the thing we’re focusing on doing is just taking a much needed break. We’re moving into April and trying to develop a presence has been the most draining process out of everything so the best thing we can do at this point is just unplug and reconnect with what we’re doing and our connection.

Everything about this is exhausting because we honestly have no idea how to make it clear that enough is fucking enough so if they can’t figure that out then we’ll just stay away from any space where they can access Dre in any way.

We also realized that this works well for us because of us updating the page art to be finalized so it’s easier to just do that here where we don’t have to worry about reblogs potentially having things run wild when that’s not our intention. Once they’ve been updated, we’ll update it on the preview page to give a better idea of how things will be for the final story.

Being an independent creator today definitely makes us feel like a fish out of water but I guess it’s a good thing that we’ve got a healthy amount of water in our charts so we know what it means to keep swimming.

Obviously, we have no idea if anyone is even reading these updates but if you are, we genuinely appreciate your willingness to try and keep up with us in any capacity. We’ll be sure to keep doing updates on our sites and will try our best to make it clear where you can follow us on social media if there’s anywhere worth it for us to be.
